On to Bigger Battles

This is long overdue. And for that I am sorry.

My life has gotten extremely busy. My classes are more demanding than they have ever been. I haven't played Wizard101 in months. I haven't posted in months. My interests have shifted.
It isn't fair to keep my readers in suspense for the next post if there aren't any left.

I have decided that I will no longer post on this blog and be active in this community.

This has nothing to do with Wizard101 being a bad game. I simply don't have the time to keep up with it anymore. I haven't played past the first battle of Khrysalis. How can I give quality commentary and guides on things that I haven't even played? I'm sorry that I am leaving many projects unfinished and many posts unwritten. I don't have the time to research and complete them. I can't get to paid places in the Spiral to take screenshots or even play. It is for the best that I step away permanently.

Starting February 1st, 2018, all of my accounts related to Cheyenne Caster and Nordic Champion Blog will become inactive. They won't be deleted, but I will not check them any longer. This blog isn't going anywhere, as I believe there are parts of it that still are valuable to the community. It will not be updated and I will no longer respond to comments or emails.

I'd like to thank everyone that has stuck by me on this great journey! Everyone in this community has helped me learn the ins and outs of the game. You have all inspired me to blog- your input has formed my blog and made it what it is. Thank you. Thank you for your never ending support!

Thank you to KingsIsle, for creating such a beautiful game. Thank you for creating a game that was so fun to play, explore, discuss, and blog about. Wizard101 is awesome! Don't stop creating!

Lastly, I would like those people who are considering blogging to read this: Blog. You have nothing to lose. Even if you last a week. Every post contributes to something in this community. It is so worth it! I am passing the torch to new bloggers, so take it!

My purpose is complete here in the Wizard101 blogosphere.

Thank you.

Farewell, for I am off to bigger battles.

New Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet

The newest bundle in Wizard101 is the Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet! This gauntlet provides players with a great four part dueling experience and an exclusive fishing voyage. Jock Coosto assists your wizard through this grand Celestia-themed voyage! The Fantastic Voyage Gauntlet is available at Walmart for $39. If you are having trouble locating this card, check KingsIsle's list of locations!

What's Included
- Fantastic Voyage Expedition

- Shark Skirunner Mount

- Peppy Porpoise Pet

- Abyssal Warrior's Suit

- Abyssal Eel Whip

- 1 Month of Membership or 5,000 Crowns

Fantastic Voyage Expedition
This challenging four battle dungeon is not for the faint-of-heart. The first three battles are simple enough, but the final battle culminates in an extremely tough cheating boss! When you finish the gauntlet, you get a free +33% Fishing Luck Elixir and access to Data Atoll, the fishing island. You can access this island with out doing the quest, but you'll have to successfully complete the dungeon once to do so. The unique fish caught is the Microfish.

Shark Skirunner Mount
The Shark Skirunner Mount is a clockwork Celestian contraption built to boost your speed by 50%! This great looking mount will help you get from place to place in a timely manner. It is the second mount to give a speed increase!

Peppy Porpoise Pet
Need some pep in your mundane wizarding life? Magical studies bogging you down? Enter the Peppy Porpoise Pet! This cute little pet starts off with a 69 Pedigree and a Lifespear card at Baby. If you can't buy the gauntlet, you can hatch it in the Hatchery.

Abyssal Warrior's Suit & Abyssal Eel Whip
This unique set of gear provides a hodgepodge of stat boosts. As with previous bundle gear, I recommend using the gear for supplementary or stand-in use. All the stats are universal. The cards seem very useful.

The Abyssal Eel Whip looks very intimidating, but the stats aren't. I don't think the wand has enough lashing power to really be useful. However, the two May Cast cards, Wild Bolt and Healing Current (casts as Ice), may satisfy some wizards, but the unpredictability and unreliability of May Cast cards aren't worth it in my opinion. This flashy wand would make a great stitch though!

Conclusion
This bundle is really cool! I like the Skark Skirunner Mount and the Peppy Porpoise Pet. I think the expedition-like gauntlet is a neat idea. This is a great bundle with some really cool components, great supplementary gear, and an entertaining experience.

What drops have you been getting from the gauntlet? Have you caught any fishing chests? What did you receive from the chests? Comment below!

Nordic Champion Turns Two!

Nordic Champion is celebrating two years of blogging today! I am so excited to share this great milestone with all of you!

Looking Back
I've come a long way since I began blogging back in 2015. It really feels like it was just last year, not two years ago. I've since grown in my writing and research abilities. The blog hasn't changed too much over the past two years, but that's not a bad thing. I think that my current look stands true to my name, and I love it the way it is!

In the two years of blogging, Cheyenne Caster has gained 21 levels since Level 71. However, she has been a level 92 Promethean Sorcerer for a while. She has been stuck on the first battle in Khrysalis. Unfortunately, I haven't had the opportunity to progress since I haven't had a membership in a while.

Within the two years of my blog's existence, Wizard101 has changed so much! In the past two years, we've seen the addition of the "Ultra Summer," Daily Assignments, and Monstrology. Polaris and Mirage were added to the game. Numerous packs, bundles, and other items were created.

What's Next
I would first like to apologize for such a low post rate. School got incredibly time consuming. I was hoping that summer would be better, but it's not looking that way. To top it all off, I have had severe writer's block.
What I am planning on doing is to continue posting once or twice a month. I hope that this relieves a little pressure on me, which in turn will hopefully cure my writer's block. It is entirely possible that I could post more.

I am going to continue what I have been doing: news, guides, and spiral history. I will still do my other posts, but those three are my main areas of focus.

I think that my only goal for this coming year is to make more time to really work on this blog. It really disappoints me when I can't think of something to write about. I want to write!

Special Thanks
I would first like to thank everyone who reads my blog! Whether you've read one post or 10, I appreciate you reading what I have to say. You have all been a great support for the past two years!

The special group of people I would like to thank is all the community leaders, bloggers, and YouTubers. I've interacted with a lot of you and the endless support you have all given me is incredible! You are all amazing people and I appreciate everything you do!

Lastly, I would like to thank KingsIsle for creating the beautiful, complex game that we all love! Without it this blog would not exist. Thank you for all the questions you've answered and all the fun you've given!

Thanks for a great two years everyone! I can't wait to see where this next one takes me!

Disqus Comments Problem Update

I installed Disqus on my site for easy commenting. Apparently, this is not so. I've had issues in the past with it, and I don't forsee it being resolved any time soon. Disqus is aware of the problem where comments were not syncing with Blogger. Did you know only a small portion of the comments on my blog are visible? I'm so sorry that it's not working. There's no known simple solution.

If you know how to fix this, please email me via the contact form on the right. Sorry about this!

New Ghulture's Hoard Pack

Die-hard fan of Mirage? Explorer of shifting sands? Loyal member of a faction? If you said yes to any of these questions, look no further! The Ghulture's Hoard Pack has everything you need for an enjoyable desert experience.

This pack is no mirage! Packed with school themed mounts, housing decorations, reagents, treasure cards, and more, there's definitely something for everyone in this pack. Here's a short list of what you can get in this pack.
  • 7 School Themed Ghulture Mounts
  • Worm Larva Pets
  • Ancient Purrzian Armor
  • Purrzian Scimitar Weapon
  • Mirage House Guests
  • Mirage Housing Items
For a near complete list of pack items, visit Stars of the Spiral's guide here.

Notable Items

Ghulture Mounts
If scavenging for morsels of damage is your thing, check out these birds! This pack has seven ghultures to choose from, one for each school. Each school's ghulture has mount colors that correspond with the school. Each mount offers an extra 3% of Fire, Ice, Storm, Death, Life, or Myth damage, or a 2% universal damage on the balance mount. This is very useful to get damage ratings a closer to a target damage rating. It's even more useful to wizards under the level of 15 to begin building their damage.
Fire, Ice, and Storm Ghulture Mounts
Ancient Purrzian Armor and Purrzian Scimitar
If you want to look like a desert assassin, you may want this pack. The Ancient Purrzian Armor is kind of frightening, and sort of plays into 300's Immortals' look. Stat-wise, the entire set does not stand out. For some, it may fit your playing style. However, if you have too much sand in your shoes, you may want to have a look at the Ancient Purrzian boots. Offering 25% - 29% multiple school damage, these shoes may be the missing part for some sets.
Worm Larva Pets
To accompany you on your desert wanderings, take a semi-cute worm larva! These little guys have some selfish and useful talents that could be great to add to gene pools. The Sand Worm Larva (Balance) has a 56 pedigree, while the Dark Worm Larva (Ice) has a 69 pedigree. They work great to complete a Mirage-themed outfit or house!

Overall, this pack is an excellent Mirage themed pack. It offers some great things for almost any wizard. I would recommend focusing on obtaining the Ghulture mounts for your wizard's school.

What's your opinion on the items specifically/generally? Share below!

A New Year

Happy New Year! I am so excited to see what this year has in store! 2016 was a great year for my blog. I've grown so much and have created my own little community. It has been an honor to blog for all of you this past year.

2016 saw great accomplishments for my blog.
  • In the Wizard101 February Newsletter, I received my first mention; and now I am mentioned often
  • I am mentioned often in the Community Newsletter
  • In April, I received the honor of hosting my own event in the Fansite Festival
  • On July 1st, my blog turned a year old!
  • I have achieved many of my goals since last year
  • Lastly, I believe I have made some great friends, both in blogging/social media and in the game
Not only has my blog accomplished stuff, but also other blogs! I am so excited about the amount of new & active blogs that have surfaced in the past year. I am so proud of all of you who have stuck with it! If there is anyone out there who is reading this and is wondering if they should start a blog, let me be the person to give you a nudge. Blogging has rewarded me with so many things! Give blogging a try. Share your knowledge with the community. Chronicle your journey through the Spiral! It is definitely worth your time.

Plenty of existing blogs hit important milestones this year as well! Congratulations to those bloggers! Interested in what others in the community have to say? Scroll through my blogroll! For an even more extensive list of Spiral Blogs, check out the The Spiral Directory and the original The Wizard101 Directory.

2017 is the year for repetition in my blog. I want to continue doing what I have been doing. Again, I don't think I will be buying my domain for numerous reasons apart from the cost. I will continue doing Spiral History and all other posts. This year is promising in that I am looking to build another solid base for my blog.

This year is for growth. Growth in my blog. Growth in my characters. But it is mostly for growth in who I am. I need to grow in my contributions to this community, but also my contributions in real life. I realize my lack of posting may be disappointing, but I cannot equally pay attention to both this blog, school, sports, getting a job and my considerably low rate of reading books. I am in no way ending the active status of this blog, I am merely informing you of the cause of the shortage of posts. I will try to post at least twice a month and hopefully more when I am not busy.

I hope this year is a great success. I hope my posts get better and even more informative. I hope I can figure out the comment issues with Disqus. But most of all, I hope you enjoy the content that this blog will bring you this year!

Wishing you a successful 2017,
Cheyenne Caster, Nordic Champion

New Mirage Raider's Bundle

The shifting sands of Mirage can be quite fatiguing. Not all wizards can handle walking in a scorching desert. Luckily, Wizard101's newest bundle can help you conquer Mirage quickly!

Introducing the Mirage Raider's Bundle for Wizard101! This bundle is available at GameStop for $39. Along with tons of cool items, you can get your choice of 1 month of membership or 5,000 crowns. Click here to find a GameStop location near you.

Level 120 Gear is now available for your wizard to redeem.

Mirage Raider's Bundle
The Mirage Raider's Bundle includes:
  • Nomad Camp house
  • Desert Racer mount
  • Sultan's Monkey pet
  • Mirage Dunerunner's Gear
  • Desert Lodestar Staff
  • 1 month or 5,000 crowns
  • Additional Castle Elixir
Nomad Camp house
The Nomad Camp house is beautifully designed. It truly feels like you are living in a desert. If you
Image from Duelist101
like fishing, you're in luck because this house has fish in it! You can catch Bone Fish, Chameleon Fish, Fall Foliage Fish, Pharaohmari, Qismah Doodlefish, and Sun Ray in this house. The house also has a PvP practice arena and merchants to get daily rewards from.

Desert Racer mount
The Desert Racer mount is a single person mount. It gives a normal speed boost. It's very unique and powerful-looking in appearance. I personally think the color scheme is kind of cool. It looks like Wizard101's take of a Griffin, but it could be something else.

Sultan's Monkey
The Sultan's Monkey pet is a 64 pedigree Balance pet. It takes 5 minutes to hatch, and can be received from a hatch. Its talents are great for adding to a talent pool. The Sultan's Monkey has a talent for each school, and does not have any selfish talents. See Wizard101 Central for more details.

Gear
Mirage Dunerunner's Gear and Desert Lodestar have stats that are typical of any other bundle. The gear could be used as temporary items until a better piece can be used. The robe, however, has plenty of health, resist, and block, making it a potential rival to Jade gear. The Desert Lodestar staff is gorgeous. Though it's stats aren't particularly great, plenty of great outfits can be based off it. This wand is worth stitching.

Overall. I think this bundle is super cool, especially if your favorite world is Mirage. The gear is great as a filler or supplementary piece, and the pet can act as a source of talents for breeders. This bundle seems like it can pay for itself through fishing and rewards.

What do you think of the bundle?

Mirage Test Realm 2016

After about a month of teasers, the Mirage Test Realm is now up! A new world, new stats, new quests, new hobbies, and so much more is jam packed into this update!

Mirage

Step into Mirage, a world of shifting sands and shifting allegiances, where ancient treasures and ancient dangers were buried in the hope they might never again see the light of day.

Explore vast dune deserts punctuated by treacherous canyons and jungle rifts where the ancient House Qhats have retreated into their garden sanctuaries, abandoning the Dromel nomads to the wastes above and the ravages of the Winds of Change.

Walk the streets of Aggrobah, the so-called City of Thieves, where a charming but ineffective King has allowed crime lords like the notorious Ali Baboon to run amok.

Negotiate with mysterious Djinn to build an alliance between the world’s warring factions.

Battle alongside the ancient order of the Chronomancers who maintain the sacred Sands of Time.

Meet a cast of eccentric characters. Join them, and your friends, to expose the machinations of Grandfather Spider and his shadowy minions before their dark schemes lead to a catastrophic conclusion.

Level Up!
When Mirage goes live, the new level cap will be 120! Along with the level cap increase, wizards level 111-120 will be able to have a maximum of 475,000 gold! Level 120 PvP gear and henchmen are also now available.

Players who complete the quest "Trial of the Understudy" will own a brand new apartment in the Arcanum! This 2-tiered castle comes with an additional castle elixir, so even if you have 3 or more houses, you can still equip it!

Level 118 Spells
If you are level 118, be sure to finish the quest "History of the Cabal" to gain access to your new spell! These new spells introduce a new spell concept: divide damage! Simply select the spell, then click on the targets you wish to hit. Choose 1,2,3, or 4!

  • Fire: Scorching Scimitars
  • Ice: Climaclysm
  • Storm: Iron Sultan
  • Balance: Sand Worm
  • Life: Llamasu
  • Death: Qismah's Curse
  • Myth: Snake Charmer

Legendary Weapons
If you’ve completed the quest “Gemstone Secrets” from Polaris and “Stop! HammerTail” from Khrysalis and are currently a Promethean Crafter, you’ll gain a new quest from Librarian Fitzhume to discuss the Forge of Legends in the Arcanum with Ignus Ferric. Ignus will then sell you recipes so you can begin crafting Legendary Weapons.

Faction Vendors
There are new “faction” vendors in Mirage. This is a new type of vendor who only sells you items when you unlock a special badge associated with them. When you encounter these vendors throughout Mirage, do not be surprised when they offer you a quest to get you started. Unique (and hard-earned) treasures can be purchased from them when you earn a faction vendor’s respect!
You can even purchase a new apartment from a faction vendor. The apartment exits to your faction’s area of Mirage. (Remember, unlike your dorm room or Arcanum apartment, you will need to purchase an additional Castle Elixir if your housing limit is at max and you would like to purchase a new apartment from your faction’s vendor.)

Castle Magic
Ready to take castle decorating to a whole new level? To get started, head over to Regents Square in Marleybone and find Babbage Basset. Start the quest "Strange Charms" and begin your adventure learning castle magic with your Castle Magic Help Tome. After you have been well trained, you will be able to buy Castle Magic items from Babbage, such as treasure cards!

You'll be able to make items appear, animate, and react to your visitor's actions and locations. The creativity is endless! You can even make puzzles similar to those in early Wizard101 dungeons!

Pip Conversion
The newest stat in Wizard101 is pip conversion. This stat is found on amulets, decks, and wands from Mirage! This passive statistic can turn single pips into power pips or refund a pip back!

The first way to get a pip is by casting a spell that uses more pips then the actual value. For example, casting Phoenix, a 5 pip spell, requires 3 power pips, which is equivalent to 6 pips. Pip Conversion will occasionally refund a single pip back to you.

The second way is to get a power pip through a fully stacked 7 pip count. Again, pip conversion will occasionally replace a single pip with a power pip. It is based on your highest pip conversion stat. The higher the stat, the higher the chance.

No Spoilers!
KingsIsle will be withholding the final encounter in Mirage on the Test Realm until the time is right!

What is your favorite part about this update? Do you like Mirage?

New Shinobi Bundle in Wizard101

The newest Wizard101 bundle, the Shinobi Bundle, is now available for $29 at GameStop in the United States! This Moo Shu themed bundle comes with stunning new gear and other cool items!

The Bundle

-Shinobi Dojo
-Shinobi Dragon Mount
-Shinobi Turtle (Shellnobi Warrior) Pet
-Shinobi Gear
-Shinobi Throwing Star
-1 Month of Membership or 5,000 Crowns

Shinobi Dojo
The Shinobi Dojo is a portable and placeable PvP dungeon. It's like a gauntlet, but when you enter it becomes a practice PvP arena. It is not the ring. The dojo is like a piece of furniture. It has been found that you cannot banish people from your house if they are in the dojo.

Shinobi Dragon Mount
The Shinobi Dragon mount is a beautiful, long dragon shaped similarly to the Leviathan pet. It can accommodate 2 passengers and provide a +40% speed boost,

Shinobi Turtle (Shellnobi Warrior) Pet
The Shellnobi Warrior pet is a faithful warrior who is a must-have for all your fighting needs! This little guys comes with a starting pedigree of 55 and a Death Ninja Pig card, which is great for PvP! He can be dyed and is very talented with daggers. Look out world. there's a new samurai is town!

Shinobi Gear & Throwing Star
The Shinobi Gear and Throwing Star is not the greatest gear, but can definitely be a great asset as a filler gear piece. All its stats are universal, which is very useful when you are between gear. The gear level goes up to level 120, so Mirage may be coming very soon.

The Shinobi Bundle is a very cool addition to Wizard101. What do you like about the bundle? Will you be buying one?

8 Crazy Things in Wizard101

Wizard101 is the reason for this blog. It is unbelievable the amount of advances it has made in the past 8 years, let alone the 3 years that I have been playing. Wizard101 has brought us so much more than a game, it's an immersive experience with a well thought out story. I am so glad I can be apart of this celebration! In honor of Wizard101's 8th Birthday, I decided to think of 8 crazy things in the game. They are not in any particular order.

8. Malistaire Drake
This dude is crazy. Like seriously... he'd destroy a whole world to bring back his dead wife, who's begging him to let go? The guy doesn't even know when to quit! Don't even mention "Malistaire the Undying" to anyone that's ever finished Azteca.

How can we forget the time he attacked an unarmed wizard? Ah, I remember it like it was just yesterday. I'm still traumatized and will not answer to "puny little wizard." You've got to be pretty insane to duel with an unarmed wizard and proceed to call them "puny." Also, it felt very nice when this "puny little wizard" went all samoorai on Malistaire.

7. The Tutorial
Headmaster Ambrose just up and throws you into a duel like it's no big deal. I don't know about you, but it was nerve racking in that battle. Who throws an inexperienced wizard into a high-stakes duel? Ambrose does, that's who.

6. Family Matters
Despite Malistaire being the epitome of evil crazy dudes in Wizard101, his family's brokenness surpasses all others. I mean, Cyrus has got one attitude. Like... do you really want some student doing your laundry? Plus, how do you deal with a criminal brother? I don't know man, it's just weird.

5. Xibalba
You know what's crazy? A comet suspended in the same place in the sky for years. Even crazier? It all falls down when you show up. The entire plot twist of Azteca completely takes us by surprise. I guess KI needed to damper our 8-0 winning streak. To much privileged wizards, I suppose.

4. Old Cob
The dude just turned on us. So, as Wizard101 starts to break away from its typical Arrive-Discover-Fight-Defeat-Win quest pattern, they shake it up with the last person you think would turn on you. Old Cob, that shady dude you thought was on your side the whole time, just up and betrays you! Maybe there isn't a lot going on for a spider?

3. Talking Animals
When you first begin, the only talking animal is Gamma. You probably thought to yourself... "This isn't that weird. It's just an owl." But next thing you know you're talking to dogs, manders, and kroks? At this point it probably doesn't bother you, but did you ever think that literally KI chose to use animals? Think about it... they literally said "Yes, I want talking dinosaurs in the game, it will be a hit!" (Disclaimer: I'm not knocking on this element of the game, rather pointing it out. It's an awesome element by the way)

2. Backpacks
The concept of our wizard's backpack is literally sorcery on its own. The average wizard can fit 80 items in a backpack, including but not limited to: houses, pets, giant mounts, plants, and gear. How do you even fit a HOUSE in a backpack? Only Ambrose knows.

1. Student Wizard goes 2-0
How does a student wizard, not a veteran wizard, go 2-0 in defeating the "most talented" (and I say that with sarcasm) villains in the Spiral? Beats me. Tons of accomplished wizards try their best at stopping them, but in the end it was the student who had the final spell. Also, not to mention Student Wizard goes 6-0 in the Immortal Games and their side bosses. Yep, perfectly normal.

Thanks for reading this short article! What's the craziest thing in Wizard101?
